Warm and compassionate, I will also challenge you when the time is right. Blending formal education with lived experience, I guide you to uncover lost connections to yourself and identify needs, wants and hopes. Mine is a body-based approach, grounded within a relational and affirming orientation.
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is the work of Peter Levine. SE aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies and nervous systems. Trauma, from an SE lens, is focused on how it shows up in the nervous system and how that dysregulation impacts life.
NeuroAffective Touch® is a professional psychobiological approach that integrates the key elements of somatic psychotherapy, attachment and developmental theory, and affective and interpersonal neurobiology. This modality, created by Dr. Aline LaPierre, uses intentional, mindful touch to bring the unconscious memories held in the body into conscious awareness.
Gestalt therapy emphasizes the interconnectedness of an individual's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The term ‘gestalt’ is a German word, meaning whole or form. There is always a commitment to understand your experience contextually including the immediate situation and the broader social and cultural dimensions that influence us all.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), developed by the late Francine Shapiro, is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. My training and affiliation is with the international association EMDRIA™.
A fulfilling sexual expression and acceptance of your sexual self is a key component to healthy psychology. I completed a certification with Melissa Fritchle, LMFT who is a member of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.
I have taken a Yoga Teacher Training. And am happy to talk about how this can enhance our work together.
If you are curious about how my approach may help, don't hesitate to reach out. Finding a therapist who gets you and is available to connect is an essential part of the journey towards growth and building resilience.
